Part 1: Get your money right!

Updated: Dec 25, 2018

The separation is official and divorce proceedings are underway (or not). Filled with rage, anger and determination it’s time to start getting your life in order. What are you going to do?

Get your Ms. Jackson on and get in CONTROL.

Step 1. What are your finances? Aside from the emotional toll of separating financial stress is by far the 2nd highest anxiety inducing moment of the entire process.

How am I going to pay…? I need a job! What am I qualified to do? I need more money, now!

Grab a seat, pen & paper or your computer and break it all down. Simply list anything you can think of. List what and how much you owe.

Where do you stand? You’re still standing? Good for you. I don’t know about you but this gave me peace of mind. I had direction and started to develop a plan. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of tears and anxiety attacks, but I was constructing my path and future -my way.

If there ever a time for a good strong drink, this is it.

Clarity is key. This is the moment when you start to see the trees within the forest. Take a deep breath. You’re on your way to greener pastures.

Once you’ve made the list take the time to write down the amounts owed and total.

Whatever the amount, don’t panic. Start planning. Start taking Action. It’s time to start a budget.

Make sure you highlight all of your expenses to a T. Payment due dates, amounts, etc.
